We are the “mind” of G.R.A.C.E., which strives to empower youth in the community who have been affected by disaster. This Education Department operates a special place for young people called “The Center” where they can come for assistance in computer training, homework, tutoring, and other activities geared to empower the young people and their families. The Education Team provides the “after” component of the disaster relief when families are trying to put their lives back together and just need someone in their corner encouraging them to go on. Successful organizations such as the Education Team know that it takes more than a good plan to succeed in teamwork. It takes an empowered organization, focused on realistic goals with impassioned leadership; it takes vision; it takes consensus; and it takes a sense of purpose. The Education Team plans to continue enhancing the after school program, career development, parent groups, and most importantly the mentoring programs. We have had success building a relationship with Klein Independent School District, Cullen Middle School and other youth-related programs. The after school is key program has gone from 25 attending to 50-60 students daily. Our parents are more involved and we have on-going attendance in our Adult computer lab. Together the team has adopted the philosophy: “Nothing will last if Christ is not apart of it because we are 'True Men of God'”. As the Education Team forges ahead into the year 2011, we have developed a new mission statement: “Start by doing what’s necessary, then what’s possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible!” Our immediate goal is to continue to make a difference in the lives of young people and instill hope in lost souls. At this time, the Education Team is looking to move the bar to another level and get everyone to go beyond the doors of their imagination. In other words, we will continue to dwell in the possibilities.
