August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina slams into the Gulf Coast and devastates Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Soon to follow was Hurricane Rita.
2005 is designated the worst year in history for natural disasters.
G.R.A.C.E. Community Services was spotted on the scene canvassing the Humble, Southeast and Southwest area of Houston conducting personal assessments, delivering personal hygiene kits, clothing, and providing transportation to survivors.
G.R.A.C.E. Community Services has touched 285 families, placed 95 families in permanent housing, provided 65 families with furnishings, provided 75 families with turkeys for Thanksgiving, and handed out gifts for toddlers during Christmas.
We are excited about G.R.A.C.E. House. It has played a major role in healing disaster survivors holistically. Because we are on sight with the families, it affords us the opportunity to know our families more intimate.
